Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Academic Research Scientist to join our team at Emory University's School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology. The successful candidate will work closely with our research team to advance our understanding of mitochondrial biology and develop potential therapies for mitochondrial diseases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate mitochondrial biology and disease mechanisms
  • Analyze and interpret data from various experimental platforms, including LCMS and metabolomics
  • Collaborate with postdoctoral fellows, research technicians, and students to advance research projects
  • Develop and implement new research protocols and techniques as needed
  • Contribute to the preparation of research papers, presentations, and grant proposals
Requirements
  • PhD or master's degree in a relevant field, such as mitochondrial biology, pharmacology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in a research laboratory, with a strong background in molecular biology, cell culture, and animal handling
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and collaborators
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with LCMS and metabolomics, with a strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation
  • Background in mammalian cell culture and basic molecular biology techniques
  • Knowledge of mitochondrial biology and disease mechanisms, with a strong interest in developing potential therapies
