The Credit Operations Specialist will play a crucial role in processing loans for our clients and acting as a key point of contact with our educational partners.
Work Arrangement: This position supports a hybrid work model, featuring three in-office days (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday) and two remote workdays (Monday and Friday).
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize our systems to assess and underwrite applications submitted by educational institutions, making informed decisions based on established guidelines.
- Conduct exit interviews with students completing their programs to provide clarity on the loan process and employment opportunities.
- Prepare files for funding by completing exit interviews, verifying employment, and coordinating with employers regarding tuition reimbursement and payroll deductions.
- Follow up with customers regarding overdue accounts, payment plans, settlements, and general inquiries.
- Collaborate with new educational partners, offering guidance and support throughout the onboarding process.
- Liaise with carriers to submit necessary tuition documentation.
- Assist in reviewing customer credit profiles to identify potential issues.
- Manage settlement proposals for customers.
- Handle debt validation letters and ACDVs.
- Create, update, and maintain loan tracking spreadsheets using Excel.
- Oversee new loan assignments, bankruptcy cases, and escalated customer interactions.
- Manage various loan processes, including servicing, month-end reporting, and new loan initiation.
- Additional operational tasks may be assigned as required.
Qualifications:
- An Associate's Degree or three years of relevant work experience is required.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers at all levels.
- Familiarity with reading credit reports is preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in the subprime to near-prime credit sector is advantageous but not essential.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in decision-making.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and advanced Excel functions is required.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks while adhering to daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
- Strong numerical skills and problem-solving capabilities.
- Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced work environment are essential.
