Job Title: Imaging Services Engineer

Join the University of Maryland Medical System as an Imaging Services Engineer and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care by ensuring the optimal performance of imaging equipment.

Job Summary

As an Imaging Services Engineer, you will work under the supervision of experienced engineers to install, maintain, and repair imaging equipment in assigned geographies. You will collaborate with management and technical staff to ensure seamless operations and adhere to corporate policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with experienced engineers to install, maintain, and repair imaging equipment, including ultrasounds, contrast injectors, mobile radiographic/fluoroscopic units, and other modalities.
  2. Work closely with management and technical staff to ensure effective communication and coordination.
  3. Seek support from higher-level authorities for complex issues and decisions.
  4. Perform basic administrative tasks associated with the position.
  5. Make decisions based on clear instructions and operational rules and procedures.
  6. Show initiative, follow established procedures, and work in a safe manner.
  7. Complete assigned work in a timely manner and prioritize workload effectively.
  8. Adhere to performance metrics, including PM completion, call closure, parts returns, and work order completion time.
Requirements
  1. Associate's degree in electronic technology, engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 3 years' experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment in a clinical setting.
  3. AAMI CBET/CRES or ACCE CCE certifications are preferred.
  4. Working knowledge of general office equipment, VOM meters, radiation meters, hand tools, oscilloscopes, safety analyzers, imaging phantoms, power tools, HV probes, HV bleeders, and test fixtures.
  5. Basic knowledge of radiation physics, digital technology, and mechanics.
  6. General knowledge of networked equipment.
  7. Basic knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to imaging equipment, radiation safety, and protection practices.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Highly effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  2. Knowledge of applicable trade areas and ability to understand and communicate technical terminology applicable to healthcare technology management.
  3. Computer skills, including Microsoft Office programs.
  4. High level of maturity, self-development, and integrity.
  5. Ability to combine pieces of troubleshooting information to form general rules or conclusions.
