Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a vital role in supporting healthcare providers and ensuring high-quality patient care. This position involves a variety of administrative and clinical tasks, including but not limited to: administering injections, measuring vital signs, managing patient flow, and assisting with various patient-related activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome patients warmly and prepare them for examinations, collaborating with the clinical team to ensure efficient patient flow.
  • Accurately obtain and document vital signs in the electronic medical record (EMR) as per departmental protocols.
  • Gather patient medical histories and document reasons for visits to maintain comprehensive medical records.
  • Administer injections and medications as directed by healthcare providers.
  • Assist in minor procedures and emergencies within the certified medical assistant's scope of practice.
  • Schedule laboratory tests and provide instructions for sample collection and testing procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and relay important information to healthcare providers.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in examination rooms and prepare necessary instruments.
  • Ensure active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification is maintained.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program or currently enrolled in an externship program.
  • Active Medical Assistant Interim (IC) or Certified Medical Assistant (CM) license through the Washington State Department of Health by the start date.

Desired:

  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient care setting.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift and carry items up to specified weights.
  • Capacity to perform repetitive movements and maintain physical stamina.

Working Environment

Work is conducted in patient examination rooms and may involve working closely with others. The role may require flexibility in hours and the ability to work under pressure.

Job Classification: Non-Exempt, Hourly
