Role Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting healthcare providers and the medical team by delivering exceptional customer service and quality patient care. Responsibilities include:

  • Administering injections and measuring vital signs such as weight, height, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature.
  • Managing patient flow and rooming processes.
  • Preparing for patient visits and performing post-visit duties.
  • Assisting with front office tasks, scheduling, and reporting test results as directed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and prepare them for examinations.
  • Accurately record vital signs and patient medical histories.
  • Administer medications and injections as prescribed.
  • Assist in minor procedures and emergencies within the certified medical assistant scope.
  • Schedule laboratory tests and provide instructions for sample collection.
  • Maintain clean and organized exam rooms and medical instruments.
  • Uphold Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program or currently enrolled in an externship program.
  • Active Medical Assistant Interim (IC) or Certified Medical Assistant (CM) license through the Washington State Department of Health by the start date.

Desired:

  • Previous experience in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Basic computer proficiency.

Physical and Sensory Demands

The role requires a combination of physical activities, including:

  • Frequent walking and standing.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of weights.
  • Continuous repetitive movements.

Working Conditions

The position involves working in patient exam rooms and may require adapting to limited space and stressful conditions. General supervision is provided by the Practice Manager, with guidance from healthcare providers.
