About the Role

Capital One is seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing large-scale data systems and architectures that support our business goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop data pipelines and architectures that meet business requirements
  • Develop and maintain large-scale data systems and architectures using cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Work with data engineers and scientists to design and implement data pipelines and architectures that support machine learning and AI initiatives
  • Collaborate with digital product managers to deliver robust cloud-based solutions that drive powerful experiences for our customers
  • Perform unit tests and conduct reviews with other team members to ensure high-quality code
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in application development, with a focus on big data technologies
  • At least 1 year of experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles and practices
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java, Scala, and Python
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL tools such as Redshift and Snowflake
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in application development, with a focus on big data technologies
  • 2+ years of experience with cloud-based technologies such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud
  • 3+ years of experience with distributed data/computing tools such as MapReduce, Hadoop, Hive, EMR, Kafka, Spark, and Gurobi
  • 2+ years of experience with NoSQL implementation such as MongoDB and Cassandra
  • 2+ years of data warehousing experience with Redshift and Snowflake
  • 3+ years of experience with UNIX/Linux, including basic commands and shell scripting
  • 2+ years of experience with Agile engineering practices
