Job Summary

San Jose State University is seeking a qualified lecturer to join our Chicana and Chicano Studies Department. The successful candidate will teach lower and upper division courses in Chicana/o Studies and serve as a role model for students from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in Chicana/o Studies, including lower and upper division courses
  • Develop and implement curriculum that promotes social justice and critical thinking
  • Advise students and provide guidance on academic and career goals
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Chicana/o Studies or a related field
  • Ph.D. degree in Chicana/o Studies or a related field (for upper division courses)
  • Teaching experience in higher education, preferably in Chicana/o Studies
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and promote inclusive learning environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses
  • Knowledge of Chicana/o Studies methodologies and pedagogies
  • Ability to develop and implement curriculum that addresses the needs of a diverse student population
