Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified lecturer to join our Chicana and Chicano Studies Department at San Jose State University. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching lower and upper division courses in Chicana/o Studies, as well as serving as a faculty member in our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach lower and upper division courses in Chicana/o Studies, including courses on Chicana/o history, culture, and identity.
  • Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with the department's goals and objectives.
  • Advise and mentor students in the Chicana/o Studies major and minor programs.
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development activities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Chicana/o Studies or a related field (or Ph.D. in Chicana/o Studies or a related field for upper division courses).
  • Teaching experience in Chicana/o Studies or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Chicana/o Studies or a related field.
  • Experience teaching online or hybrid courses.
  • Experience working with diverse student populations.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages relevant to Chicana/o Studies.
