In light of this challenge, ManTech, a trusted partner of CBP, is in search of skilled, adaptable, and qualified Data Scientists to spearhead the creation and implementation of high-quality predictive modeling solutions. The ideal candidates will be recognized experts in applying quantitative techniques, machine learning methodologies, and predictive analytics to tackle complex national security issues. They will assist in utilizing extensive structured and unstructured datasets to develop and operationalize models, tools, and applications that enhance decision-making processes. Responsibilities will encompass data collection, mining, analytics, clustering, pattern recognition, automated classification, and entity resolution to improve automated risk assessment. The solutions we create yield actionable insights that significantly impact the safety and security of the United States and its economy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct in-depth analysis and modeling, formulating intervention hypotheses and experiments, assessing data requirements, and determining optimal analytical strategies.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and scope mission challenges where big data interventions can provide critical solutions, developing comprehensive project plans with clear milestones and deliverables.
- Exhibit proficiency in extracting, cleaning, and transforming CBP transactional data to build predictive models, along with producing necessary documentation.
- Utilize a variety of statistical and machine learning techniques to design programming algorithms, train, evaluate, and deploy predictive models that inform mission-critical decisions.
- Manage projects aimed at identifying patterns or anomalies in large datasets, performing automated classification, and executing entity recognition and extraction.
- Communicate project management, technical design, and outcomes to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders, throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience in developing machine learning models and applying advanced analytics to solve intricate business challenges.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, Scala, and Java.
- Strong SQL programming skills.
- Experience in constructing and executing queries for data extraction to support exploratory data analysis and model development.
- Familiarity with statistical software packages including SAS, SPSS Modeler, R, WEKA, or similar.
- Experience in pattern recognition, automated classification, and entity resolution techniques.
- Knowledge of both unsupervised and supervised machine learning methods.
- Experience in data mining, analysis, and training set construction.
Desired Qualifications:
- Expertise in Unsupervised Machine Learning methods, including Cluster Analysis and Segmentation.
- Knowledge of Supervised Machine Learning methods such as Decision Trees, Support Vector Machines, and Neural Networks.
- Experience with visualization tools and techniques like Tableau, PowerBI, and others.
- Familiarity with big data technologies including Hadoop, Spark, and Kafka.
- Master's Degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or related fields with relevant practical experience.
Education:
- HS Diploma/GED and 15+ years
AS/AA and 13-18 years
BS/BA and 7-12 years
MS/MA/MBA and 5-9 years
PhD/Doctorate and 3-7 years
Clearance:
- Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) suitability.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time.
- Occasional movement within the office environment.
- Frequent operation of a computer and other office machinery.
- Regular communication with co-workers and management, which may involve delivering presentations.
