Position Overview

The Student Engagement Specialist plays a crucial role in enhancing student experiences within the educational framework. This position focuses on delivering tailored support services to students, ensuring their academic and emotional needs are met effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and enroll students requiring additional support services.
  • Implement Tier 2 interventions for students needing extra assistance.
  • Collaborate with educators and mental health professionals to track and improve individual student progress.
  • Coordinate ICAN services for students identified as needing support.
  • Design and facilitate group sessions for targeted student populations.
  • Act as a bridge between families and educational staff to foster better engagement in the learning process.
  • Work alongside other ICAN programs to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Develop and oversee truancy initiatives aimed at maintaining student engagement.
  • Encourage positive behavioral practices to enhance classroom success.
  • Support various initiatives aimed at student recruitment and retention.
  • Maintain professional ethics and boundaries in all interactions.
  • Assess and respond to crisis situations with appropriate interventions.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in Education, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, along with four years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in a similar field.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in youth services, both traditional and non-traditional.
  • Further professional development in specialized areas is advantageous.
  • Ability to adapt to the needs of students, staff, and programs.
  • Experience working with students facing significant emotional and behavioral challenges is essential.
