Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Student Personnel Technician to join our team at California State University Los Angeles. As a key member of our financial aid office, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to students, faculty, and staff, while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of student inquiries and provide accurate and timely information regarding financial aid programs and policies.
  • Assist students in selecting and processing financial aid contracts, including loan and grant applications.
  • Perform file reviews and verify financial aid eligibility, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of federal, state, and third-party software systems to effectively assist students and verify financial aid eligibility.
  • Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
  • Equivalent to two years of full-time responsible general clerical experience in a college or university financial aid office.
  • General knowledge of interviewing techniques and thorough knowledge of the policies and procedures of financial aid programs available at the CSU.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Basic computer skills and the ability to learn new software systems quickly.
  • Strong customer service skills and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural/multiethnic environment.
Working Conditions

This is a full-time, exempt position, with a temporary one-year appointment that may be extended or become permanent. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or Monday - Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
