Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at Strategic Staffing Solutions. As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for performing on-line edits and corrections to the payroll system, calculating special check requests, and processing internal adjustments for employees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform on-line edits and corrections to the payroll system, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
- Calculate special check requests and audit requests from departments and HR, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Process internal adjustments for employees, analyzing past payroll information and calculating the proper amount of adjustment.
- Perform difficult and detailed corrections of the exception time report edits, analyzing errors and performing advanced on-line corrections in the PeopleSoft system.
- Review and validate Kronos schedules and timekeeping duties, following payroll guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Answer complex questions via phone inquiries from employees, timekeepers, management personnel, and Human Resources, providing accurate and timely responses.
- Communicate with employees and management regarding questions and concerns related to their paycheck and related calculations.
- Process garnishment checks and mail checks with legal statements to requestors, such as Friend-of-the-Court, Attorneys, or IRS.
- Prepare stop payment and voided checks in a timely manner for reversal and reissue.
- Process deductions from employee paychecks, such as union dues, pharmacy, vendor sales, and Gold Coast.
- Calculate incorrect payments and process necessary adjustments to recover overpayment amounts from employees' paychecks.
- Independently select, interpret, and apply proper codes, rules, and regulations related to payroll transactions in the PeopleSoft system.
- Work closely with the Payroll Analyst and Accounting team to ensure proper allocations to the general ledger.
Requirements:
- At least two (2) years of related payroll experience required, with previous hospital experience highly desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft and Kronos systems payroll and timekeeping.
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving/judgment skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Tact and discretion required in regard to security of PeopleSoft and Kronos, as well as exposure to confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent organizational skills required to maintain documents, records, logs, and track in the CRM system.
Education Requirements:
- High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required.
- Payroll certification (FPC or CPP) preferred.

Rate: 24-26/HR
