Position Overview
The Logistics Transport Operator is responsible for operating a tractor-trailer (day cab/sleeper), tandem trailer, and/or straight trucks on both intrastate and interstate routes. This role involves picking up logistics loads as well as other related food and non-food product loads, and subsequently delivering these loads back to the designated warehouse locations for inventory management.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure timely pick-ups and confirm that the correct products are received and loaded.
- Adhere to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company safety protocols while maintaining quality standards.
- Report directly to a Logistics Manager/Supervisor, performing duties that may include local and/or over-the-road schedules, which may involve layovers.
- Conduct thorough inspections of loads and associated paperwork, including product counts and quality checks.
- Drive to assigned supplier/vendor and warehouse locations following a predetermined route and delivery schedule.
- Maintain regular communication with the direct supervisor regarding route, load, and schedule confirmations.
- Secure all equipment and complete necessary paperwork at the end of each shift.
- Exhibit courteous and professional behavior in all interactions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned based on business needs.
Position Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or state-approved equivalent.
- Valid CDL-A.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Meet all state licensing and/or certification requirements (where applicable).
- Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the past three years.
- Pass post-offer drug test and criminal background check.
- Pass road test.
- Valid current DOT Health Card or ability to secure a new DOT Health Card.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 2-4 years of experience in commercial driving.
- Experience in the foodservice distribution industry.
Required Experience:
- 1-2 years of commercial driving experience.
