Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Vice President & Associate General Counsel to join our Legal department at Walker & Dunlop. As a key member of our team, you will provide legal counsel primarily focused on litigation, contract dispute resolution, and legal and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and advise on commercial disputes, including litigation.
  • Track, report, and analyze pre-litigation and litigation events.
  • Negotiate and structure settlements of commercial disputes.
  • Collaborate with the legal team and other colleagues to understand and mitigate litigation risk.
  • Support internal investigations, as needed.
  • Manage and administer the Code of Conduct and Walker & Dunlop's Ethics Program policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Develop and manage relevant ethics and compliance programming, training, awareness, and outreach.
  • Regularly assess and develop programming to maintain Walker & Dunlop's ethical culture.
  • Manage and coordinate outside legal counsel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Membership in good standing in a state Bar.
  • Ten+ years of litigation, corporate investigation, contract dispute resolution, and ethics program experience with a top-tier law firm or in-house at a financial or other regulated institution.
  • Experience developing and managing legal and regulatory ethics and compliance programs.
  • Experience counseling senior business clients on a wide variety of litigation and legal risk issues.
  • Experience analyzing inquiries and complaints and interpreting corporate policies related to financial reporting, fraud, conflicts of interest, among others.
  • Experience with risk assessment, mitigation, and management.
  • Ability to effectively/proactively handle multiple cases, including managing and coordinating outside counsel.
