Position Overview

The Patient Services Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for patients, healthcare providers, and office personnel. This role involves welcoming patients, preparing daily documentation, informing medical staff of patient arrivals, collecting payments, and managing appointment schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage multiple phone lines, including directing calls, scheduling appointments, and handling cancellations in accordance with office protocols.
  • Welcome patients and accurately record their arrival for scheduled appointments.
  • Utilize service recovery strategies when addressing patient concerns.
  • Register new patients or confirm and update existing patients' information in the database, including collecting and entering insurance details.
  • Handle patient insurance and identification documentation.
  • Collect co-payments, co-insurance, and other necessary payments while ensuring accurate end-of-day financial reconciliation.
  • Process outgoing, returned, and courier mail.
  • Perform additional tasks as required.
Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of customer service experience, particularly in face-to-face interactions and high-volume phone communication (preferred).
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a healthcare, medical office, or hospital environment (preferred).
  • Experience in a collaborative team setting.
  • Proficiency in computer usage and the Microsoft Office Suite.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear and simple manner.
  • Self-driven, enthusiastic, and maintains a positive demeanor.
