The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Manager - Accounts Payable to join our team at the Virginia Department of Health Professions.
This exciting opportunity offers a challenging and rewarding career in financial management, with a competitive salary range of $83,000 - $133,000 per year, depending on experience.
Job DescriptionThe Senior Financial Manager - Accounts Payable will be responsible for managing and evaluating various financial functions, including accounting principles, auditing standards, and regulatory compliance. This role requires strong leadership skills, as you will be leading Comptroller's Directive annual activities and ensuring quality internal and external customer service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the Accounts Payable functional area and ensuring compliance with applicable agency/state laws and regulations;
- Leading Comptroller's Directive annual activities and monitoring all individual financial attachments to ensure compliance;
- Overseeing fixed assets (FAACS), lease accounting (LAS) and 1099 reporting activities;
- Reviewing and approving accounting transactions;
- Performing complex and varied analysis and reconciliations;
- Collaborating with the Finance/Budget and Accounting Directors as well as the Accounts Receivable, Financial Reporting, Procurement Managers and the ARMICS Coordinator to develop, implement and maintain fiscal processes.
The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, significant knowledge of accounting functions and operations, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
RequirementsTo be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- Demonstrated ability to independently plan, direct, and manage a specialty area in a financial or accounting environment to include supervising of fiscal staff engaged in financial activities;
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and build relationships within a diverse population;
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound professional judgment, knowledge, and experience to make effective decisions and recommendations regarding divisional resources and accounting operations;
- Demonstrated ability to assemble, analyze, and prepare reports and statements covering complex financial data;
- Demonstrated ability to write and develop policies and procedures and implement recommendations and strategies to enhance existing policies and procedures;
- Experience in business administration, accounting, or related field experience comparable to the duties of this position or an equivalent combination of training and experience;
- Strong experience in fiscal functions to include cash management, fee processing, payroll processes, and travel processes;
- Demonstrated database experience with System Automation's MyLicense Office Suite or similar licensing systems.
