Position Overview


The Security Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing security measures for various assigned events or facilities, ensuring the protection of the premises, assets, personnel, students, and visitors.

This role includes acting as a lead figure among security staff, enforcing security policies, procedures, and training, making critical decisions, and maintaining a safe environment. It involves applying relevant safety, security, and risk management policies.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting patrols and monitoring activities at designated facilities and events to deter criminal behavior and promote a secure atmosphere.
  • Identifying trespassers and violators, adhering to departmental protocols, and knowing when to involve law enforcement.
  • Regulating the entry and exit of staff, visitors, and vehicles in accordance with established protocols.
  • Monitoring surveillance systems to detect disturbances or illegal activities.
  • Documenting daily activities and incidents in detailed reports for management review.
  • Preparing special and periodic security reports and maintaining accurate unit records.
  • Overseeing the operation of weapons detection and metal detection systems.
  • Utilizing communication devices effectively and clearly.
  • Administering CPR and first aid as necessary.
  • Assisting event personnel and security managers in coordinating operational tasks.
  • Executing tasks assigned by management to uphold security policies and protocols.
  • Identifying weaknesses in security operations and protocols, and assisting in their prompt resolution. May involve testing physical security systems.
  • Ensuring adherence to departmental policies and procedures.

Required Qualifications

High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is essential.

Three to five years of relevant experience in security operations, with progressively responsible roles in security staffing; a comprehensive understanding of complex security systems, access control, and surveillance systems, as well as safety management and emergency planning.

Valid vehicle operator's license is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of security laws, regulations, protocols, surveillance systems, and risk management principles.
  • Certification in security management (e.g., CPP, PSP) is preferred but not mandatory at the time of hire.
  • Certification in CPR/first aid or the ability to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
