Job Title: Mental Health Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the Mental Health Association. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to our clients.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver services in accordance with approved joint protocols and practice agreements with our Medical Director.
  • Provide psychiatric evaluations, comprehensive health assessments, medication monitoring, medication counseling, and psychoeducation.
  • Consult with other clinical staff, attend staffing meetings, and function as a member of the treatment team.
  • Provide consultation and education to staff.
  • Identify relevant psycho-dynamics and assist in the identification of relevant treatment issues.
  • Formulate and sign treatment plans, utilizing a wide range of treatment modalities.
  • Log in and monitor all medication samples, dispose of expired medication samples, and provide emergency first aid as mutually agreed upon.
  • Confirm blood work, complete all charting and record requirements, and review all cases on a regular basis.
  • Monitor the appropriateness of treatment modality, frequency of contact, length of stay, other services available, and medication regimens.
  • Be available for crisis consultation with staff via telephone as required.
  • Create an atmosphere conducive to an open dialogue for all clinical staff in the department.
  • Give written and verbal orders to nurses regarding client medications, provide injections of medications for PH members as required, and attend meetings at the request of the Medical Directors or Senior Director of Programs.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational and therapeutic groups, monitor clients' health/medical issues, and make treatment recommendations.
  • Consult with collaborating psychiatrists as indicated by service agreement and joint protocols, conduct medication inventory, and dispense medication as prescribed.
  • Complete clinical and medical documentation in electronic clinical record systems timely and accurately.
