About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team at Siemens Energy. As a key member of our Gas Services division, you will play a critical role in the design and development of rotor components for industrial gas turbines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the design of new and upgraded rotor/casing components and compressor blades and vanes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet the needs of the marketplace, including new hardware design, performance enhancements, manufacturing improvements, and service improvements
  • Develop and maintain design engineering drawings and specifications using CAD software
  • Perform fundamental structural analysis using hand calculations and first principles
  • Conduct advanced computer FEA techniques and aid in budget planning, cost controlling, and scheduling
  • Provide documentation in the form of technical reports, specifications, and design review packages
  • Coordinate tasks with internal and external suppliers/contractors and collaborate with component engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams
Requirements
  • BSME or equivalent experience, with a focus in machine design or a related field
  • Significant mechanical design experience, with some basic analysis and familiarity with building/checking basic engineering prints of rotating industrial machinery
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to work with colleagues from different organizations and cultures
  • 5-8 years of product development experience for engineered mechanical products, with a willingness to travel (approximately 10%)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Gas turbine rotor and/or compressor module experience, primarily with mechanical and structural design
  • Advanced knowledge in Nx, Simcenter, and ANSYS FEA calculations, with familiarity with other CAD packages like ProEngineer
  • Excellent communication and strong organizational skills, with the ability to work with colleagues from different organizations and cultures
  • Familiarity with risk assessments like FMEA and configuration control using SAP-OneP, Teamcenter
