Position Summary:

The Indianapolis Art Center is focused on offering engaging art classes and activities that encourage lifelong learning. As the 2D Program Manager at the Fishers Art Center, you will be responsible for overseeing educational initiatives for adults in the areas of Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking. Your duties will encompass program development, faculty oversight, studio management, and ensuring an optimal learning atmosphere.

The perfect candidate will possess experience in instructing 2D art to adult learners, a comprehensive understanding of artistic techniques, reliability, and a positive attitude. Additionally, creating a safe and encouraging environment for students and advocating for educational opportunities at the Art Center are fundamental responsibilities for all personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert in Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking.
  • Oversee faculty performance, conduct evaluations, and manage staffing needs.
  • Efficiently coordinate class and studio schedules.
  • Lead a minimum of three classes each semester.
  • Manage resources, supplies, and budgets for the 2D studios.

  • Participate in necessary meetings, training sessions, and events.
  • Respond promptly to communications.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.

  • Adaptability to changing circumstances and effective contribution across various projects.
  • Problem-solving abilities to design and deliver impactful instruction.
  • Strong time management skills to juggle multiple responsibilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills to ensure timely completion of projects.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Equivalent of a bachelor's degree in art or art education.
  • Previous teaching experience and familiarity with diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in educational methodologies and management practices.
  • Aptitude for receiving and applying constructive feedback.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.

Physical and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to occasionally lift heavy materials.
  • Engagement in physical tasks related to the program.
  • This is an on-site position at the Fishers Art Center.
  • Completion of a criminal background check is required for all team members.
