Job Overview

A+ Consulting is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Specialist responsible for executing both routine and advanced laboratory testing activities, along with the accurate reporting of results.

Position Details:

This role operates during the 1st shift, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM ET.

The successful candidate will handle moderately challenging to complex tasks, ensuring that all analytical testing procedures are performed with precision and within designated timeframes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to established laboratory protocols for specimen management, testing analysis, result reporting, and record maintenance;
  • Maintain documentation demonstrating proficiency testing samples are treated identically to patient specimens;
  • Conduct specimen analysis using approved testing methodologies as outlined in departmental SOPs;
  • Review and validate test outcomes;
  • Comply with CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety regulations as stipulated;
  • Follow quality control policies, documenting all quality control actions, instrument calibrations, and maintenance activities;
  • Implement laboratory policies when test systems deviate from acceptable performance levels;
  • Identify and rectify issues that may negatively impact test performance or result reporting, or promptly inform the senior technologist or supervisor;
  • Document all corrective measures taken when test systems fall outside established performance criteria;
  • Follow departmental procedures for reporting critical results to clients;
  • Respond to inquiries from clients or laboratory personnel, if necessary;
  • Maintain comprehensive records of all testing conducted on-site;
  • Ensure the department's general appearance is upheld;
  • Verify that reagents/test kits are properly labeled with received dates, expiration dates, and opened dates where applicable;
  • Participate in training on new procedures and attend departmental meetings;
  • Engage in all relevant safety training sessions, familiarizing oneself with the safety manual and equipment;
  • Assist in regulatory inspections as required;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:

  • A solid foundation in laboratory testing is essential. Proficiency in computer systems is necessary to adapt to various platforms.
  • Knowledge of quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) is required, along with familiarity with all laboratory areas.

Educational Background:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology is preferred; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology, or an Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology;
  • Previous qualification as a Technologist under 42 CFR published in March 14, 1990 is acceptable;
  • Foreign-educated candidates must provide a detailed credential evaluation from IERF (International Education Research Foundation);
  • U.S.-educated candidates must submit an original transcript;
  • Eligible candidates should possess or be eligible for national certification as an MT/MLT from a recognized organization (ASCP or AMT).

Experience Requirements:

  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in high complexity testing is preferred;
  • A minimum of 1 year of clinical laboratory experience in complex testing is required for candidates with a BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology;
  • National and State licensure as required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills for interaction with other departments;
