Job Summary

Aircraft Mechanic I - CH-47 Engine Mechanic/Repairer Specialty

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect, service, and perform maintenance on aircraft turbine engines and components.
  • Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft and aircraft engines to ensure airworthiness.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions in aircraft structure, landing gear, flight surfaces, and controls.
  • Remove and install aircraft subsystem assemblies and components.
  • Perform diagnostic testing on turbine engine systems, sub-systems, and components.
  • Service and lubricate aircraft and subsystems.
  • Prepare aircraft for inspections and maintenance checks.
  • Perform scheduled inspections and assist in performing special inspections.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment.
  • Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate problems.
  • Use technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals and Maintenance Information.
  • Make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Knowledge of electrical theory and aircraft unique tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures, and replacement of parts.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory and a thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools.
  • Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads and lead teams through complex tasks.
  • Level of experience to carry out all required aeronautical type maintenance.
  • Ability to type using a standard keyboard.
  • Ability to handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Powerplant License.
  • Valid up-to-date A&P license.
  • Three years aviation maintenance experience, two years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two years on the assigned Mission Design Series (MDS) CH-47.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NACI(T1) Public Trust Security Clearance.
