Job Summary

The Process Engineer - Production Expert at Hohman Plating is responsible for utilizing sound engineering practices to troubleshoot and resolve process issues, acting as a process expert for internal and external customers and implementing systemic improvement efforts in order to enhance quality and reduce production costs.

Key Responsibilities

Utilize sound engineering practices to quickly resolve process issues on the production floor and minimize downtime.
Drive and implement continuous improvement efforts to improve operational efficiency and manufacturing consistency.
Provide process expertise to internal and external customers to utilize and expand the intellectual property of the business.

Interpersonal Responsibilities

Acts as a mentor to train and develop capable, independent Co-Ops, Chemical Analysts, and Process/Engineering Technicians.
Serves as a technical resource for customers and internal stakeholders to implement new processes and resolve production related issues.
Provides guidance and direction to Process Engineering Technicians and Co-ops to ensure on-time completion of assigned tasks.
Provides ongoing technical assistance and training on hardware processing to the Production Operators.

Operational Responsibilities

Assists in evaluating project feasibility and alignment with Hohman capabilities; coordinates conceptual production processes to validate/reject feasibility.
Utilizes Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) to assess the reliability, safety, performance and risk of new processes; determines likelihood of risk mitigation based on analysis.
Drives production process implementation and manages the transition into production to drive timely processing and project completion; troubleshoots technical and process related issues as needed.
Troubleshoots and conducts root cause analysis of project, production and chemical bath process related issues to minimize production downtime; ensures the Production Manager is kept abreast of progress and aware of process changes.
Generates project reports to allow internal stakeholders to effectively manage projects to budget and defined timelines. Assists in conducting post-mortem project analysis to continuously improve project performance, cost & timeframes.
Evaluates and validates vendor's capabilities, quality, reliability, and reputation meet Hohman Plating requirements; ensure vendors have clarity on project needs, expectations, and process changes.
Assists in identifying and implements continuous improvements opportunities with regards to processes.
Accurately documents time allocation to evaluate production trends and identify continuous improvement opportunities; makes recommendations to the management team.

Requirements

B.S. Degree in Engineering (or Related Technical Field)
3+ years of related experience & training preferred
Results-oriented with process ownership commitment and ability to prioritize
Demonstrated proficiency with problem solving tools: 5 Whys, Is / Is Not, Pareto Diagrams, Design of Experiments, FMEA
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret specifications, prints and other technical documents
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
