Clinical Optometrist for Vision Care in Maryland

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Optometrist to join our team at Kaiser Permanente in Kensington, Maryland. As an essential member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive eye care services to our patients.

**Job Summary:**

  • Examine patients with a full range of visual problems using advanced optometry instruments and techniques.
  • Diagnose and treat visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies according to state laws and medical standards.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses to meet the unique needs of each patient.

**Responsibilities:**

  • Determine the visual requirements of partially sighted patients and prescribe low-vision aids such as telescopic lenses, magnifiers, and other optical devices.
  • Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents under standing orders from a physician to detect and diagnose ocular pathology.
  • Collaborate with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology teams to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, peer review activities, and educational programs to stay up-to-date on best practices.

**Requirements:**

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
  • Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire date.
  • Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia).

**Preferred Qualifications:**

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment or successful completion of an accredited residency program.
  • Accredited residency in Optometry preferred.

**Work Environment:**

  • Full-time position with 40 hours per week.
  • 50% travel required between Kensington and Gaithersburg locations.

**Compensation:** The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 annually, based on location and experience. Please note that this figure is subject to change and may vary depending on individual circumstances.
