About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Materials Engineer to join our team at Westinghouse Electric Company, LLC. As a Senior Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and analyzing materials for the development of high-temperature reactor components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop materials for high-temperature reactor components, including graphite and carbon-ceramic-matrix composites.
  • Provide guidance and expertise on design concerns and radiation effects related to these materials.
  • Lead teams in the development of eVinci Micro-Reactor components from preliminary through final design.
  • Communicate with management on the progress of the design and ensure timely completion.
  • Use analysis tools, such as finite element simulations and hand calculations, to qualify component design.
  • Drive and/or execute component qualifications through ASME BPV code Section III Division 5 methodologies and criteria.
  • Work with other component, system, and manufacturing leads on the integration of subsystems and resolve emergent design issues.
  • Collaborate with testing organizations to develop plans for functional and qualification testing.
  • Work with project managers and subsystem/component leads to develop and maintain project schedules.
  • Lead complex technical projects, coordinating multi-functional teams to accomplish project objectives.
Requirements
  • BS and/or MS in Materials Engineering or a related field.
  • 5-10+ years of experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Familiarity with material requirements related to ASME Section III components.
