Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Teacher of the Visually Impaired to provide comprehensive educational support to students with visual impairments in a fully remote setting.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of each student with visual impairments.
  • Provide virtual instruction and support in core academic subjects, including Braille literacy, orientation and mobility, adaptive technology, and daily living skills.
  • Collaborate with students, families, and other educational professionals to assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Utilize innovative teaching methods and assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to monitor student progress and inform instructional decision-making.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Education of the Visually Impaired or related field.
  • Valid state certification/licensure in New Mexico as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI).
  • Previous experience working with students with visual impairments in a school or educational setting.
  • Proficiency in Braille literacy and knowledge of adaptive technology tools for individuals with visual impairments.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Passion for inclusive education and a commitment to advocating for the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and access to necessary technology for remote teaching.
