Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher for Hearing Impaired Students to join our team at Albuquerque Public Schools. As a member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for students with hearing impairments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) that cater to the unique needs and abilities of students with hearing impairments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support.
  • Design and deliver engaging and accessible instructional materials and activities that promote academic achievement and social growth.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to foster a sense of community and belonging.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education, including the use of assistive technology and communication strategies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • New Mexico teaching certificate endorsed in the area of Special Education for Hearing Impaired Students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Experience working with students with hearing impairments and their families, preferably in a public school setting.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience with assistive technology and communication strategies for students with hearing impairments.
  • Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other sign languages.
