Job Summary

As a key member of the City of Houston Texas team, the Environmental Laboratory Supervisor will oversee the daily activities within the environmental wastewater laboratory. This role involves performing highly technical chemical analyses using advanced instrumentation in accordance with clearly prescribed procedures and laboratory techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise laboratory personnel and ensure compliance with laboratory procedures and regulations.
  • Develop and implement laboratory protocols and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results.
  • Collaborate with laboratory staff to resolve technical issues and improve laboratory efficiency.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Develop and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures to ensure laboratory results are accurate and reliable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory procedures and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Working Conditions

The Environmental Laboratory Supervisor will work in a laboratory setting, with frequent exposure to chemicals and laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
