Program Manager for Academic Excellence

Basic Function

Under the guidance of the Programs Director or designated supervisor, the Program Manager is tasked with overseeing designated program activities aimed at ensuring high-quality academic and student service offerings.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee the execution of various project activities to fulfill or surpass the expectations of assigned programs.
2. Manage and track budgets to guarantee adherence to regulations and directives from program agencies and educational partners.
3. Assist in the preparation and management of budgets, control and authorize expenditures, approve payment invoices, and address budget inquiries from staff.
4. Supervise and coordinate departmental planning and operations, including personnel management and the development and evaluation of support staff.
5. Facilitate the dissemination of project information and outreach initiatives to familiarize students with available services and programs.
6. Develop and implement strategies to identify and assist students who meet project criteria, assessing their needs and providing relevant programming.
7. Engage in meetings and conferences related to programs within the assigned area; share information, coordinate projects, and implement procedural changes; follow up on action items and create program reports as necessary.
8. Promote the organization and assigned programs to the academic community and the public.
9. Perform additional duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree is required. A minimum of two years of experience related to the area of assignment. Proven sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic, and disability backgrounds of community college students and employees.

Knowledge and Skills

Knowledge of: Student services available within the organization. Modern office practices, methods, and technology. Principles and procedures of financial record-keeping and reporting. Relevant federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations pertaining to assigned special programs. Public speaking principles. Record-keeping and report preparation techniques. Principles of providing work direction and guidance to others. Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.Ability to: Assess and implement project objectives. Communicate effectively with individuals and groups. Interpret and apply organizational policies and project initiatives. Engage and motivate others. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports. Prepare and oversee budgets. Supervise and guide assigned staff. Understand and follow both oral and written instructions. Communicate proficiently in both oral and written forms. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Collaborate with organizational personnel and key project staff to monitor program effectiveness based on evidence-based milestones for student success. Develop and lead orientations, seminars, and workshops designed to inform students, faculty, and staff about special program opportunities.
