Job Summary:

The Borough of State College is seeking a skilled Public Works Laborer to join our team. As a Public Works Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the maintenance of public landscapes, streets, and sewers. This includes repair and maintenance of streets and sewers, maintenance of public property, and minor carpentry and construction tasks. You will also be responsible for the collection of refuse and bulk items and for the safe operation of vehicles and equipment used in all tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Perform a variety of semi-skilled and skilled level work in the maintenance of trees and public landscapes
• Repair and maintain streets and sewers
• Maintain public property
• Perform minor carpentry and construction tasks
• Collect refuse and bulk items
• Operate vehicles and equipment safely

Requirements:

• High School education and some previous work experience in a related field
• Must obtain Confined Space Certification, Work Zone Traffic Control Training within 12 months
• Must obtain a Class B commercial driver's license (with tanker endorsement and without air brake restriction) within four months of employment
• Must have a valid Pennsylvania driver's license
