Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced FTTx Design Engineer to join our Telecom Engineering and Design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for creating high-quality fiber-to-the-x (FTTx) designs that meet our clients' needs.

Responsibilities

  • Serving Boundary Sizing: Utilize GIS address data to analyze, interpret, and organize large datasets to determine serving boundaries.
  • Feeder Route Determination: Determine feeder routes, distribution routes, and drops to premises by utilizing parcel, ROW, and easement documentation.
  • Fiber Allocation: Review field staking sheets, as-Builts, and field-collected data to determine the optimal running line and construction method.
  • Aerial Imagery Analysis: Analyze aerial imagery and general maps to identify existing utilities or potential obstructions.
  • Constructible Plan Sets: Produce and review high-quality constructible plan sets using GIS-based software.

Requirements

  • Strong Communication Skills: Effective communication is essential for success in this role.
  • Multi-Tasking Ability: Demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Teamwork: Contribute and work well on a team to achieve common goals.

Qualifications

  • Map Reading and Interpretation: Ability to read, interpret, create maps, and plan sets.
  • Document Editing: Ability to edit and create PDF documents using Bluebeam or Adobe skills.
  • Education: Associate's or bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • OSP Knowledge: General knowledge in OSP construction methods and best practices.
  • FTTx Experience: 3-6 years of FTTx design and/or OSP experience.
  • Network Knowledge: General knowledge of FTTx and/or OSP networks is required.
  • Software Skills: Knowledge of Google Earth KMZ files, AutoCAD-based software, ESRI ArcGIS Software products, and Net Designer or other asset management platforms is preferred.
