Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Phlebotomy Specialist to join our team at Actalent. As a Phlebotomy Specialist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients in a clinical setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collect blood samples from patients using straight needles and butterfly needles.
  • Label and centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data.
  • Decontaminate and update patient information.
  • Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
  • Clearly explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections to patients.
  • Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
  • Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
  • Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
  • Package specimens for transport.
  • Store specimen samples at required temperatures, and follow specific protocols to maintain the integrity of the specimens during transport.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of recent phlebotomy experience.
  • Proficiency with straight needles and comfortable performing venipunctures independently from day one.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy.
Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position in a Patient Service Center (PSC) in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will be able to work in a team environment and provide excellent customer service to patients.
