Academic Faculty Position in Applied Data Science

San Jose State University is seeking qualified candidates for a pool of part-time, temporary, non-tenure track Lecturer positions in Applied Data Science and Analytics. The Department of Applied Data Science offers academic programs to address the emerging workforce demands of interdisciplinary talents who design and deploy intelligent solutions to real-world data challenges.
Responsibilities- Teach courses in Data Science and Analytics, including introductory and advanced courses, as well as special topics courses.
- Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, assignments, and assessments.
- Advise students on academic and career goals, and provide guidance on research opportunities.
- Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development activities.
- Stay current with developments in the field of Data Science and Analytics, and incorporate best practices into teaching and research.
- A Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of significant and relevant professional experience in a STEM field, including experience in teaching, research, or industry.
- Knowledge of the subject matter of the discipline in Data Science and Analytics, including data mining, machine learning, and statistical analysis.
- Evidence of satisfactory achievement in previous academic work, including teaching, research, or industry experience.
- Applicants should demonstrate an awareness of and sensitivity to the educational goals of a multicultural population, as might have been gained in cross-cultural study, training, teaching, and other comparable experience.
- Experience teaching Data Science and Analytics courses at the undergraduate or graduate level.
- Research experience in Data Science and Analytics, including publications and presentations.
- Industry experience in Data Science and Analytics, including experience working with large datasets and developing predictive models.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including students from underrepresented groups.
