Surgical Technologist Lead

This role focuses on providing medical and clinical support services to patients. The Surgical Technologist Lead is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of the Operating Room, providing expert technical support to surgeons and nursing staff, and maintaining a safe and efficient environment for patients undergoing invasive procedures or surgery.
Job Overview
The Surgical Technologist Lead is a key member of the perioperative team, responsible for coordinating the services, techniques, and teachings of those individuals assigned to specialty services. This role requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools, as well as the ability to work independently and make decisions in non-routine situations.
Responsibilities
- Assist surgeons during surgery by providing the appropriate instruments and maintaining and organizing operating room equipment.
- Perform job duties according to the policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the department and hospital.
- Collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary team to optimize team performance within their specific service line.
- Manage all intraoperative medications in accordance with Operating Room policy.
- Participate in decision-making activities related to evaluating and acquiring surgical equipment, instrumentation, and supplies.
- Provide advisory supervision to section technologists through collaboration with the Service Line Nurse Manager and/or Clinical Nursing Director.
- Participate in the ongoing and annual performance appraisal process for surgical technologists within their surgical subspecialty.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a training program for surgical technology in the military or graduation from an accredited Surgical Tech Program.
- At least 8 years of healthcare experience.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions in non-routine situations.
- Advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools.
