Job Summary

LG&E and KU Energy is seeking a skilled Relay Protection Technician to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our electrical grid.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation, setting, testing, and verification of protective relay and control systems.
  • Verify the correct installation and performance of analog input devices, including current and voltage transformers.
  • Perform functional testing of new wiring within control circuits to ensure correct design and performance.
  • Assist in the timely completion of all project-related documentation, including schematic and wiring drawings and setting records.
  • Perform periodic functional trip and breaker failure testing of relay systems.
  • Assist in the resolution of operation investigations, including the development and application of special tests.
Requirements
  • ASEE or BSET degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ingenuity.
  • Proficiency with software applications required for the position.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to solve problems and complete all projects on time.
Preferred Qualifications
  • One to two years of experience in system protection and control.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed.
