Job Overview

At Slater Infrastructure Group, a leading infrastructure services firm in the Southeastern Region, we are seeking a highly skilled Water Treatment Specialist to join our team. This exciting opportunity is based in Atlanta, 30318.

Salary: $32 per hour (based on national averages and local market rates)

About the Role

This challenging role involves operating and maintaining water/wastewater treatment, processing, disposal, and testing equipment in water/wastewater treatment facilities to purify water to meet permit and operational requirements. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for daily operation and maintenance of all equipment in the water treatment plant.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform water sample testing to analyze and optimize plant efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records and logs of all plant operations.
  • Calibrate various mechanical, electrical, and electronic equipment associated with the plant.
  • Diagnose and repair electric pumps, drive units, reducers, pneumatic valves, solenoid valves associated with plant operation.
  • Quickly and clearly communicate any malfunctions or operational problems.
  • Understand the mechanical and scientific principles of each piece of equipment and have a proactive ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Must have a general understanding of total suspended solids (TSS), turbidity, pH, sedimentation, general chemistry reactions, and coagulation to determine and perform operational adjustments.
  • Understanding and commitment to safety.
  • Effectively work in a team environment, leading and prioritizing daily tasks and operations.
  • Work with water treatment chemicals.
  • Effectively use Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Adobe, and other basic office software to document operations.
  • Excellent organization and housekeeping skills.
  • Other duties as assigned/requested.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

  • A Class/Level 3, 2, or 1 Wastewater treatment License in the State of Georgia.
  • Four years of practical experience in water treatment plant operations.
  • Exceptional organization and English communication skills.
  • Knowledge of nomenclature and conventional symbols of structural, mechanical, and engineering drawings.
  • The ability to read and interpret operation and maintenance manuals and equipment drawings.
  • The ability to make mathematical calculations related to the work.
  • The ability to understand and carry out detailed technical instructions.
  • The ability to maintain records and drawings relative to the work.
  • The ability to maintain effective working relationships with all department personnel.
  • The ability to communicate effectively.
  • The ability to maintain favorable client relations.
  • A minimum age of 21.
  • A valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.
