Role Overview

The Import Operations Coordinator manages import activities under the guidance of the Trade Compliance Manager and the Senior Manager of Logistics & Trade Compliance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This role offers the flexibility to operate in a hybrid setting, combining virtual work with in-office responsibilities as necessary.
Key Responsibilities

PRIMARY

  • Engage with Customs Brokers and freight forwarders to ensure compliance with import regulations for all transactions.
This includes providing guidance on import methods, HTS classifications, FDA, FCC, and other required documentation.

  • Manage, track, and report on all Temporary Imports, including the creation and upkeep of a spreadsheet in SCM SharePoint to ensure timely closure of TIBs and avoid penalties.
  • Assist internal business clients with logistics quotes, freight bookings, and the generation of all import/export documentation, ensuring all necessary government filings are completed.
  • Classify materials (HTS and ECCN) for the organization and guarantee compliance with all trade regulations.
  • Oversee denied party screening and maintain records as mandated by law.
  • Support the Senior Manager of Global Logistics & Trade Compliance in fostering a culture of import/export compliance with a strong focus on internal and external customer service throughout the organization.
  • Help various business units identify import requirements.
SECONDARY
RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide assistance to all business units and global trade operations regarding import compliance.
  • Collaborate across functions to maintain import compliance while supporting overall organizational objectives.
  • Monitor and assess changes in import trade laws and regulations, adapting procedures as necessary and effectively communicating updates to relevant personnel.
  • Deliver operational trade compliance support as directed by the Senior Manager of Global Logistics and Trade Compliance and the Trade Compliance Manager.
  • Limited travel may be required.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL

  • Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, logistics, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with US import regulations.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience using the US Customs ACE portal.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience with US HTS and ECCN classifications.

PREFERRED

  • Familiarity with 19 CFR.
  • Knowledge of 232 Steel Tube Exclusions.
  • Understanding of 49 CFR and 42 CFR.

Additional Information

This position is hybrid, requiring occasional commuting to a designated office. Hybrid work schedules are determined by the hiring manager based on business needs.
