Job Title: Family Development Coordinator

At Boys and Girls Village INC, we are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Development Coordinator to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of youth and families.

Job Summary:

The Family Development Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the resource family approval and training process, ensuring that all aspects of the program are consistent with DCF contract expectations. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides supervision to staff members, including orientation, evaluation, and support/monitoring of staff development.
  • Works as a team member with other clinical and administrative staff to respond to programmatic needs, including the implementation of agency policies, procedures, and initiatives.
  • Partners with supervisor to identify and develop plans for professional growth.
  • Oversees implementation and facilitation of agency recruitment plan, resource parent approval & re-approval process, and pre and post training.
  • Completes resource family assessment and readiness for placement.
  • Assists in the matching and placement process.
  • Oversees child specific recruitment plans and reports data accordingly to DCF.
  • Ensures all data requirements are completed in accordance with state and model standards.
  • Ensures adherence to program policies and procedures in accordance with contract, licensing, and accreditation standards including PQI measures.
  • Collaborates with program staff in the resolution of regulatory compliance issues to maintain placement continuity.
  • Reviews and signs off on all resource family approval and reapprovals.
  • Acquires and maintains the needed skills required in program's evidenced based model for foster parent training.
  • Completes model specific training in alignment with job outlined by FFT partners and DCF.
  • Oversees scheduling and communication around foster parent support group.
  • Participates in training consultation with model developers.
  • Participates in quality assurance processes for the FFT program.
  • Any other duties deemed necessary by supervisor to ensure the success of the program, youth, and families.
Requirements:
  • At least three years of experience working with children and families required.
  • Experience in the following content areas preferred: family systems theory, cognitive-behavioral therapy, adverse childhood experiences, trauma, child development, substance use disorders, and intimate partner violence.
  • Cultural competency to serve a diverse population.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Connecticut Child Welfare/ Foster Care System.
  • Master's degree in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, or equivalent.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish).
  • Knowledge of COA standards.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for direct supervision of Recruiters.
  • Provides weekly supervision.
  • Reviews and approves requests for time off for program staff based on overall coverage of program needs.
  • Ensures completion of performance appraisal for evaluation process.
  • Participates in the hiring or termination of employees.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to climb several flights of stairs.
  • Must be able to work with clients in a variety of settings.
  • Must be able to lift 35lbs.
Working Conditions and Environment:
  • Must be willing to drive to off-campus sites for recruitment events and collaborative meetings.
  • Maintain flexible work schedule to meet the needs of families, clients, and staff.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings & weekends.
