Job Title: Bioinformatician I Channing Lab

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatician to join our team at the Channing Division of Network Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and supporting complex bioinformatics infrastructure, designing and creating tools and software analysis pipelines, and ensuring the secure dissemination of information generated.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, create, and support tools and software analysis pipelines for data collection, transformation, and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain complex bioinformatics infrastructure to integrate across a wide range of skills and techniques.
  • Collaborate with the team to perform technology watch, contribute to the strategy and evolution of existing services, and future architecture evolution around communication platforms.
  • Work independently and as part of a highly collaborative and intellectually challenging environment.
Requirements:
  • MS in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Biological Engineering.
  • Understanding of programming with agile development methods.
  • Experience with R, Python, and Pandas.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics tools, including common NGS tools (BWA, samtools, GATK) and OMICs data (DNA, RNA, methylation, 16S, metabolomics).
  • Experience with databases (Postgres) and DB design.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, Snakemake, or Nextflow.
  • Ability to work in a Linux (Ubuntu) environment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
