Advanced Medical Care Provider

UT Health Science Center is seeking a highly skilled Advanced Medical Care Provider to join our team in the Surgical / Orthopedic Trauma Clinic. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide advanced medical care to patients in a surgical setting, working under the direction of a surgeon.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex patient care procedures, utilizing specialized training and experience to provide high-quality care.
  • Assess patient medical complaints and provide appropriate treatment, working closely with supervising physicians.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures as delegated by the supervising physician, ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Manage pre-operative and post-operative patients, coordinating care with faculty supervising physicians.
  • Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems, communicating effectively with supervising physicians.
  • Assist in collecting patient histories, performing physical examinations, and providing episodic care or problem-oriented care under physician supervision.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, monitoring treatment programs and informing attending physicians of pertinent medical/surgical information.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to patients on preventive health care or postsurgical care, ensuring a smooth recovery process.
  • Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions, entering chart documentation for review and counter signature by the physician.
  • Prepare and care for supplies and equipment, responding to emergency situations as needed.
Requirements:
  • Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or specialty required by department
  • Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work
