We are seeking a part-time professional to join our team for 3 days a week as a Surgical Instrument Processing Specialist. This role is essential in ensuring the proper collection, cleaning, decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments, trays, packs, reusable medical devices, and patient care equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate sterile processing machinery including washers, steam, gas, ultrasonic, and chemical sterilizers.
  • Understand the cleaning protocols for patient care equipment such as IV pumps, PCAs, CPM machines, and other medical devices.
  • Identify various sterilization materials and select the appropriate sterilization method for specific equipment or supplies.
  • Prepare and organize instruments for surgical cases and assist in ensuring the operating room is ready.

Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with reusable surgical instruments, microsurgical tools, and power equipment.
  • Experience in instrument preparation for surgical cases, maintaining accurate records, and understanding state regulations and proper equipment usage.
  • Adhere to Infection Control standards, Standard Precautions, and OSHA regulations relevant to healthcare professionals.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in an acute care hospital environment is preferred.
  • Current SPD Certification from an accredited program or eligibility for grandfathering.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • 8-hour day shift
