Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex patient assessments and provide appropriate treatment under the direction of a surgeon.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures and manage pre-operative and post-operative patients in coordination with the supervising physician.
  • Utilize advanced assessment skills to anticipate complex patient problems and communicate information to supervising physicians.
  • Assist in collecting patient histories, performing physical examinations, and providing episodic care or problem-oriented care under supervision.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests, monitor treatment programs, and provide guidance to patients on preventive health care or postsurgical care.
  • Assist physicians in formulating therapeutic decisions and enter chart documentation for review and counter signature.
Requirements:
  • Current Texas Licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Current Physician Assistant certification issued by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or specialty required by department
  • Proficient in the use of medical and surgical instruments and equipment required by work
