About the Role

The YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Aquatics Team Lead to oversee the day-to-day operations of our aquatic programs. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and engaging aquatic experiences for our members and program participants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Coordination: Coordinate and supervise the day-to-day operation of aquatic programs, including swim lessons, lifeguarding, and other aquatic activities.
  • Staff Supervision: Assist with recruiting, training, and supervising YMCA team members, instructors, lifeguards, counselors, volunteers, and other team members as assigned.
  • Pool Maintenance: Ensure proper pool maintenance, including chemical management and equipment maintenance.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of program participation, staff schedules, and other relevant data.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between the Aquatics Manager and aquatics staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate Degree with 1 to 3 years of experience and some supervisory experience.
  • Certifications: Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard certification, proficiency in swimming and safety skills, and ability to pass a water skills test and written exam.
  • Physical Demands: Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aid effectively, physically able to see, hear, and communicate clearly, and able to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Skills: Strong organizational, budgetary, computer, and communication skills, written and verbal, ability to train swim instructors, and excellent communication and public relations skills.
