Role Summary:

The Climate Change Analyst plays a pivotal role in enhancing the understanding of climate change impacts on security and defense. This position is essential for embedding climate considerations into strategic planning and operational frameworks, ensuring preparedness for the emerging threats associated with climate change.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Assessment: Perform in-depth evaluations of how climate change influences the strategic landscape, including effects on military operations, infrastructure, and logistics. Identify vulnerabilities and potential opportunities arising from these dynamics.
  • Policy Formulation: Assist in crafting climate-related policies and action strategies that align with overarching organizational goals and international climate commitments. Offer insights for adapting defense strategies to mitigate climate-related risks.
  • Data Analysis and Reporting: Collect and interpret data on climate trends and their implications for security. Develop comprehensive reports and presentations for leadership, emphasizing critical findings and strategic advice.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with a diverse array of stakeholders, including member nations, international bodies, academia, and industry experts, to exchange knowledge and synchronize climate security initiatives. Facilitate participation in global climate discussions.
  • Operational Support: Aid in the integration of climate considerations into operational planning and exercises. Ensure that climate resilience is tested and validated across various scenarios.
  • Research and Innovation: Keep updated on the latest advancements in climate science and security. Investigate innovative approaches to bolster resilience against climate-induced disruptions.
Qualifications:
  • Education: A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental science, climate studies, international relations, or a related discipline. Advanced qualifications in climate change and security are highly valued.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in climate change analysis, environmental policy, or security studies, ideally within an international or defense context. Experience with multinational organizations is a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency: Skilled in climate modeling tools, data analysis software, and strategic planning methodologies. Familiarity with operational and strategic environments is crucial.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork abilities. Capacity to thrive in a multicultural and multidisciplinary setting.
  • Security Clearance: A current SECRET security clearance is mandatory.
