Job Summary

The Patient Care Assistant is a temporary position for employees hired into the Patient Care Technician Training Program without experience or training as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This role is designed to provide hands-on training and experience in patient care, with a focus on developing skills in areas such as personal hygiene, bathing, ambulation, transporting, dressing/undressing, nutrition/feeding, and elimination needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend didactic and clinical training sessions as outlined in the course curriculum, adhering to attendance requirements.
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, bathing, and ambulation, under the supervision of a registered nurse or licensed practical nurse.
  • Respond to patient calls and perform patient rounds to ensure a safe and tidy environment.
  • Participate in the delivery of patient care, working collaboratively with the healthcare team to provide high-quality care.
  • Collect and label specimens as needed.
Requirements
  • Must be 16 years of age.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
