About the Department:
The Information Technology Services (ITS) is the central IT organization at George Mason University, providing essential IT resources, systems, services, and tools to the university community. The Customer Relationship Management (CRM) team plays a pivotal role in establishing a Salesforce-first program to enhance the student experience in alignment with the university's strategic objectives.
About the Role:
The Senior Salesforce Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for conducting analysis, testing, documentation, and implementation of CRM software, including Native Salesforce and connected applications. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders and team members, including Salesforce Architects, Developers, and Administrators, to fulfill project requirements and ensure compliance with university policies and accessibility standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirements Analysis:
- Conduct thorough requirements analyses by reviewing business requirements and technical specifications related to Salesforce implementations.
- Collaborate with business analysts, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure clarity and completeness of requirements.
Test Planning, Design, and Execution:
- Develop comprehensive test plans that outline the scope, objectives, and approach for testing Salesforce applications.
- Identify test scenarios, test cases, and data requirements based on functional and technical specifications.
- Create detailed test cases covering all aspects of Salesforce functionality, including customizations, integrations, and configurations.
- Execute both manual and automated tests to validate that Salesforce applications meet specified requirements.
- Perform regression testing to ensure that new enhancements do not adversely affect existing functionality.
- Document and track defects found during testing, providing detailed information for developers to reproduce and address issues.
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure timely resolution of identified defects.
- Conduct performance testing to assess the responsiveness, scalability, and overall performance of Salesforce applications.
- Identify and address performance bottlenecks in collaboration with the development team.
- Verify the seamless integration of Salesforce with other systems and applications, ensuring data flow and consistency across integrated platforms.
- Ensure the availability of relevant test data for Salesforce testing purposes.
- Develop and maintain data sets to cover various testing scenarios and conditions.
Documentation:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of test cases, test scripts, test data, and testing processes.
- Provide reports on test execution progress, defects, and overall quality metrics.
Continuous Improvement:
- Stay informed about Salesforce updates, best practices, and industry trends.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the evolution of testing methodologies within the organization.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, administrators, and business analysts, to ensure a collaborative approach to quality assurance.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to report testing progress, issues, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Substantial QA experience (typically five or more years).
- Significant demonstrated experience as a Salesforce QA Analyst in projects related to CRM application development and integration.
- Demonstrated experience working in a Salesforce environment (typically 2 years or more).
- Experience with integration with third-party products within existing infrastructure.
- Knowledge of Salesforce connected app architecture.
- Familiarity with the latest tools, best practices, QA methods, and Agile delivery.
- Experience with user interface issues related to navigation, usability, and functionality.
- Understanding of enterprise systems such as Banner, PeopleSoft, Workday, etc.
- Knowledge of Lightning, Visualforce, Apex.
- In-depth knowledge of testing methodologies, techniques, and best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to perform various types of testing with proper test coverage.
- Ability to define and implement improvements to testing and quality assurance processes.
- Ability to analyze and understand software requirements to determine feasibility of testing.
- Commitment to quality through the ability to translate complex functional/technical requirements into thorough test plans.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Salesforce Developer and/or Administrator training certificate(s) or equivalent preferred.
- Experience within the higher education industry.
- Experience with test automation tools.
