A Patient Care Technician provides essential healthcare support to patients under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional. As part of our team, the Patient Care Technician is responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment, monitoring patients' health and vital signs, and assisting patients with basic needs such as feeding and grooming.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides basic patient care, including vital sign measurement, personal care, and hygiene, and assists with mobility.
- Acts as a liaison between patients and nurses to report changes and concerns.
- Provides high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees.
- Documents patient care accurately and precisely.
- Participates in hand-off/report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
- Performs delegated tasks after competency validation.
- Mobilizes patients using therapeutic transfer techniques to foster independence and safety.
- Fosters independence by encouraging patients to complete tasks independently.
- Individualizes care based on patients' interests and hobbies.
Requirements
- Successful completion of a nursing aide training program or equivalent.
- Recent experience in acute care, physician's office, home health/hospice, or long-term care facility.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment.
