We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide direct patient care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or designated healthcare professional, ensuring the highest level of quality and safety for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Provide basic patient care, including vital sign measurement, personal care, and hygiene, as well as assist with mobility and unit-based specialty duties.
- Act as a liaison between patients and nurses, reporting changes and concerns in a timely manner.
- Provide high-level customer service to patients, families, visitors, and employees, ensuring a positive experience for all.
- Accurately and precisely document patient care, as required.
- Participate in hand-off and report of pertinent information regarding patient and departmental needs.
- Perform delegated tasks once competency has been validated.
- BLS Basic Life Support certification (preferred upon hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care).
- Successful completion of nursing aide training program or equivalent experience in a clinical setting.
- Ability to clearly communicate with other members of the healthcare team and understand and follow directions.
- Knowledge of patient and healthcare safety standards and regulations, as well as infection prevention and transmission-based precautions.
This role may involve periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads, as well as exposure to physical altercations and verbal abuse. The ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a calm demeanor is essential.
