Resumen OcupacionalRealizar una variedad de tareas técnicas rutinarias y complejas en la realización de pruebas de laboratorio para obtener datos que se utilizarán en el diagnóstico y tratamiento de enfermedades. Las responsabilidades laborales dependen del laboratorio y pueden incluir una combinación de las siguientes tareas relacionadas con la especialización. Las tareas se realizan de acuerdo con procedimientos y políticas escritas, con un monitoreo cuidadoso de las prácticas de control de calidad y aseguramiento de calidad.
Trabajo RealizadoEjecutar una variedad de pruebas en laboratorios clínicos utilizando técnicas y equipos estándar; realizar tareas relacionadas en el laboratorio que incluyen manejo de muestras, uso de equipos manuales y automáticos para probar muestras, y realizar y reportar pruebas analíticas. Operar instrumentos manuales o computarizados. Calibrar y mantener instrumentos de acuerdo con el procedimiento operativo estándar. Procesar muestras de pacientes para pruebas utilizando técnicas de identificación apropiadas y procedimientos escritos para asegurar material de calidad para las pruebas. Realizar troubleshooting básico de problemas de ensayo según lo indicado por el personal senior. Comunicar problemas o inquietudes a las personas adecuadas. Mantener el inventario de suministros y equipos. Participar en el desarrollo de nuevas pruebas y técnicas de laboratorio médico. Participar en la preparación para inspecciones de laboratorio. Revisar documentos y procedimientos de inspección de laboratorio para mantener el conocimiento. Informar cualquier problema de incumplimiento al personal de nivel superior. Realizar pruebas de competencia según lo indicado para mantener el cumplimiento con las agencias reguladoras. Documentar resultados de control de calidad y aseguramiento de calidad. Notificar al personal de nivel superior sobre malfuncionamientos de instrumentos o datos o resultados inusuales o inesperados. Revisar procedimientos y políticas escritas para verificar su precisión y enviar cambios al gerente o designado. Comprender, cumplir y realizar todos los procedimientos de seguridad necesarios. Mantener el cumplimiento con la capacitación en seguridad. Reportar todos los incidentes de seguridad dentro de las 24 horas. Asistir a todas las reuniones de laboratorio, capacitación en seguridad y cumplimiento según sea necesario. Cumplir con los procedimientos de prueba de competencia para el personal del laboratorio. Cumplir con los programas de capacitación del laboratorio. Puede proporcionar orientación técnica e instrucción a estudiantes, internos, residentes, personal y otros empleados. Realizar otras tareas relacionadas incidentales al trabajo descrito aquí. Utilizar comportamientos que apoyen el logro de los objetivos del cuadro de mando equilibrado y respalden los valores del DUHS (Sistema de Salud de la Universidad de Duke).

Calificaciones MínimasTítulo de Licenciatura en Ciencias/Bachillerato en Ciencias Químicas, Físicas, Biológicas o Ciencias de Laboratorio Clínico; o Tecnología Médica requerida. Los requisitos educativos o de experiencia mínimos pueden modificarse caso por caso a discreción del director de CLIA (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment) si se cumplen los requisitos mínimos de CLIA por parte del empleado para las tareas que se realizan.
