Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Duke University Health System. As a Clinical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the proper collection and delivery of blood specimens for established procedures and protocols.
Key Responsibilities- Perform a variety of routine and specialized laboratory procedures, including phlebotomy, specimen processing, and quality control.
- Prepare and initiate special tests and procedures, including cytogenetics, general laboratory, and Point-of-Care Testing.
- Obtain total volume, perform aliquot, and distribute all urine specimens.
- Communicate effectively with patients, family, and medical personnel to ensure problem recognition and resolution.
- Utilize standard equipment to maintain positive patient identification and perform order entry as required.
- Perform quality control, safety, and infection control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
- Receive and process specimens as required by respective laboratory area procedures and protocols.
- Participate in the distribution of specimens, supplies, and reports to the appropriate laboratory staff.
- High School diploma or GED.
- Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation recommended.
- At least 2 years' experience as a Clinical Technician I or Certification as a Phlebotomist.
- Certification of Basic Life Support.
- Pediatric Phlebotomy experience.
